The ignition system produces the high voltage needed to ignite the fuel
charges in the gasoline engine's cylinders. The system creates an electric
arc across the spark plugs' gaps. These events must be timed so they happen
exactly when the most power is generated. Ignition coil requirements: easier
installation, high reliability, higher output/ energy, lower cost.
Mitsubishi Electric develops the plug-top type
ignition coil with an incorporated coil driver.
