Mitsubishi Electric camshaft and crankshaft position sensors are used to detect engine speed and rotation position. They allow a vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) to determine when and how the fuel injection and ignition system should operate to achieve maximum fuel economy and power, while minimizing emissions.
Mitsubishi Electric camshaft and crankshaft position sensors produce a digital signal for the ECU by utilizing our revolutionary GMR detection element technology. GMR, or Giant Magneto-Resistance is a process by which a specially designed sensing element changes electrical resistance with respect to the disturbance of the applied magnetic field caused by the rotating target wheel. The sensor then internally converts this varying resistance to the digital output required by the ECU, so that the ECU can determine when each individual piston is at its ideal position for receiving fuel and or spark.
